Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team evened their season mark to 2-2 with a 7-0 win over Western Carolina at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Center in Charlotte Sunday morning. WCU dropped to 0-2.

The Niners took the doubles point with three hard-fought doubles matches. Ana Spivakovsky and Koren Fleming outlasted Trish Hanson and Tessie Salame 8-4. At number-two, Candace Cunningham and Yudeshnee Pillay outlasted Mariona Trilla Jane and Amanda Massey 8-3, while at number-three doubles, Yana Stoeva and Kimber Redfern dispatched Emily Turke and Susanna Sjokvist by the final of 8-4.

Charlotte got straight-sets wins at all singles matches but number-four. Spivakovsky, Pillay, Fleming, Stoeva and Cunningham recorded the straight-sets wins, while Kimber Redfern won in a grueling third-set tiebreak, 11-9, to record the singles victory.

Charlotte will make-up last week's rainout with High Point on the road at 2 p.m. Monday.
