Greensboro, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers dropped a close match at UNC Greensboro 4-3 Friday morning in women's tennis action. Charlotte is now 3-9 on the season, with Greensboro improving to 4-6.
UNCG was able to sweep the doubles point, which was the difference, as the teams battled out in singles play. Yudeshnee Pillay and Gabi Vergara were able to handle their opponents in straight sets, while Koren Fleming and Candace Cunningham found themselves in three-set tests. Fleming needed a third-set tie break, but got the win at number-three. Cunningham fell in the long final set.
Charlotte hosts Coastal Carolina next Thursday in a 2 p.m. match with the Chanticleers.
