Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers finished the regular season with an 8-1 home record with a 6-1 Wednesday afternoon women's tennis victory over Wofford at the Phillips Tennis Complex. Charlotte is 13-4 heading into the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament next weekend. The Terriers fall to 2-15 with the loss. Both Charlotte seniors continued to climb the record books in the victory.

The Niners swept the three doubles matches and finished 42-9 in doubles matches in the spring match season.

At number three, senior Koren Fleming and sophomore Gabi Vergara won their 24th doubles match of the season together, a school record for one pair, by winning 8-1. Individually, Vergara adds one more doubles win with Candace Cunningham to post 25 doubles wins, tied for second all-time in a single season in team history. She is one shy of Kim Sommer's 26 doubles wins back in 1990. Fleming now holds fourth place currently by herself at 24.

The Niners top pair of senior Yudeshnee Pillay and junior Ana Spivakovsky won 8-0 over Wofford's top pair of Baird and Smyers. Charlotte top tandem was 12-3 in the number-one doubles spot and 19-6 overall this season.

At number two, the freshmen pair of Andrea Rivera and Julia Junker won 8-5 to finish 22-6 together this season. They were also 12-3 in the spring season and finished 12-2 at number two. Both Rivera and Junker had a doubles win with a different partner, giving them each 23 doubles wins. They are currently tied for fifth for doubles victories in a single season behind Fleming.

In singles, Pillay won in straight sets at number one, 6-0, 6-1. She won all 17 of her singles matches in the spring and is 23-3 overall, putting her in a three-way tie for fifth place for most singles wins in a season in program history. She finishes the regular season 10-0 at number one and 7-0 at number two.

Fleming (number two), Vergara (number five) and Kimber Redfern (number six) all won in straight sets. Rivera won at number three when her opponent had to retire while Rivera was leading 3-0 in the first set.

Redfern has 21 singles victories, including her last 10 straight, and is one win out of the top ten for singles wins in a season in program history.

Rivera has 18 singles victories, Vergara has 14 and Fleming holds 12 wins this season.

The team awaits seeding for the upcoming A-10 Championships, held at Club4Life in Monroeville, Pa. The tournament begins on Friday, April 17.
