Monroeville, Pa. - After a pair of wins in day one, the Charlotte women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss in the semifinals against top-seeded Richmond at the 26th Annual Atlantic 10 Championships. The Niners fall to 15-5 on the season.
The Spiders (16-5) got wins at two and three doubles, winning in identical 8-5 results. The number one match was tied at 6-6 when doubles play was halted.
In singles play, Charlotte had leads at one (Ana Spivakovsky) and three (Koren Fleming), but Erin Clark defeated Yudeshnee Pillay in straight sets at number two, ending her 17-match win streak.
Helen Cunningham also won at number four over Andrea Rivera, 6-2, 6-3. Joanna Matuszczyk also earned a point over Charlotte's Candace Cunningham, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Charlotte will play in the third-place match Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
