Pillay Wins Top Singles Flight at Women's Tennis Tournament in Charleston

Charleston, S.C. - Senior Yudeshnee Pillay went undefeated to win the top singles flight in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 over Marija Dzakovic of Charleston Southern at the Charleston Invitational. In four matches, Pillay did not lose a set, and lost only 14 games in her four match victories for the top singles title.

In doubles play, Pillay and teammate Ana Spivakovsky lost 9-7 in an exciting final against Leskosky and Borza of host College of Charleston in the top flight of the doubles draw.

Kimber Redfern and Koren Fleming each won in consolation singles matches, with Redfern and partner Candace Cunningham winning in their doubles consolation match. In the fourth doubles flight, freshmen Julia Junker and Andrea Rivera were declared winners of their flight, after finishing 2-1 in the round-robin draw.

The women travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend for a tournament hosted by the University of Alabama, beginning Friday.
