NASHVILLE, TENN. - North Carolina Central University closed out its first Division I bowling campaign in style, with a win over rival North Carolina A&T during the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn., on March 15-16. Powered by a 203 game by Elizabeth Schuster, NCCU edged A&T by one pin, 699-698. That highlighted a 1-9 weekend for the Lady Eagles, as the newcomers to Division I suffered five-person team losses to Wisconsin-Whitewater (767-687), Minnesota State-Mankato (859-680), South Carolina State (739-677), Jackson State (806-734) and Arkansas State (906-770), while dropping Baker games to host Vanderbilt (714-614), Alabama A&M (739-503), Central Missouri (756-518) and Southern (717-525). NCCU was topped by LaTia Blacknell with an average game of 167.0, including a high game of 210. In her final college event, NCCU senior Jebria Buntyn averaged 148.3 per game with a high score of 186. NCCU finished its first Division I season with an overall record of 14-63. |
