DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University will participate in the NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championship for the second straight year and second time in school history on Thursday (May 10) when the No. 6 seed Lady Eagles play the third-seeded team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Bloomsburg University, at 2 p.m. in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.

NCCU (31-11) qualified for the eight-team, double-elimination regional tournament by receiving an at-large bid, the first Lady Eagles softball history, after being upset in the CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) tournament.

Bloomsburg (35-13), who is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), received an at-large bid as well after falling to Mid-Atlantic Regional No. 1 seed Lock Haven University.

Last season, NCCU as a No. 8 seed, was defeated by Lock Haven, 8-4, in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament.
