Two Women's Records Fall At Big Sky Indoor Championship

POCATELLO, Idaho - University of Northern Colorado sophomore Justine Sandersfeld did her part at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, breaking one school record and combining for three others in breaking the 4x400 meter relay during the second day of the league championship.

The Northern Colorado men's team finishing in eighth place with 16 points, while the women's team was ninth with 30 points.

Sandersfeld finished second in the 400 meters, clocking a school record 56.43, breaking her own record of 56.47 from last year's Big Sky Championship. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished fourth with a time of 3:51.36, breaking the previous record of 3:55.72 from earlier this season. Jillian Hoblitt ran the opening leg, while Lauren Iseman and Ashley Stec ran segments two and three, respectively.

Freshman Kelly Coomes also finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.91.

For the men, junior Patrick Berg placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 51-10 and freshman Terrence McGaughy placed seventh in the 60 meters with a time of 6.95.

The Big Sky Championship concluded the Bears indoor season and they now turn their attention to the outdoor season. The first competition will be March 22 at the Potts Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado in Boulder.
