Regional Bound

In the first year of post-season eligibility for Northern Colorado track & field, the Bears send a pair to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by the University of Nebraska. Freshman Terrence McGaughy will be competing in the 100 and 200 meters, while sophomore Rachel Stevens will compete in the high jump.

How They Got Here

Fresh off the first-ever Big Sky Conference title for Northern Colorado, Rachel Stevens has cleared 5-8.75 in the last two meets of the season to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Stevens is now a two-time all-conference selection for the Bears after she placed third in the high jump at the indoor championship and won the event at Sacramento State two weeks ago. She first cleared the regional standard at the Front Range Championships to finish second in Laramie.

Terrence McGaughy became the first student-athlete at Northern Colorado to ever qualify for the NCAA Regionals - the stepping stone to the NCAA Championship. McGaughy won both the 100 and 200 meters at the Ram Open, clocking in at 10.47 and 21.22, respectively to surpass the regional standards and earn co-Big Sky Runner of the Week honors for the second time.

Made To Be Broken

Sophomore Justine Sandersfeld broke the school record in the 400 meters for the third time this season, running a 54.93 in the finals of the Big Sky Championship en route to a third place finish and all-conference honors for the second time this year. She also finished second at the indoor championship.

All Conference

Junior Patrick Berg, Justine Sandersfeld and Rachel Stevens were all named to the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference team after finishing in the top three in their respective events. Berg was third in the shot put, Sandersfeld was third in the 400 and Stevens won the high jump.
