Chris Johns enters his first season of collegiate coaching as the volunteer assistant coach at Northern Colorado. He works primarily with the outfielders and assists in coaching the pitchers, spending game days in the bullpen.
Johns earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Northern Colorado in 2007 and spent one season (2006) pitching for the Bears.
In his senior season, he compiled a record of 4-7 with two of his victories coming over teams from the Big 12 in #2 Nebraska and Kansas.
Prior to Northern Colorado, Johns spent one season at Louisiana-Lafayette and two at Lamar Community College. While at Lamar, he was an honorable mention All-American and a first-team All-Region IX selection. As a freshman, he was a perfect 12-0 with a 1.30 ERA and tossed a no-hitter and he ended his two seasons at Lamar with the career record for wins with 21.
Johns prepped at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs.
