SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A late turnover preceded a 74-70 loss for the Northern Colorado men's basketball team against the Sacramento State Hornets. The Bears move to 9-13 on the season and 3-7 in Big Sky Conference play. The Hornets move to 4-16 in season play and 2-7 in league action.

Junior Guard Robert Palacios led the Bears in the first half, scoring 12 of the 28 points . However, Palacios only had 1 point in the second half and finished the game with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Bears five starters all posted double figures from the field, including senior guard Terry Anderson who made a dunk for the first time this season and sophomore guard Will Figures who tied up the game with a three-pointer with 11 seconds left in the game.

Sacramento State's Vinnie McGhee made the game winning shot for the Hornets with :04 remaining and two free throws from Clark Woods extended the Hornets lead to 4 points.

Northern Colorado shot .440 from the field and went 5-17 (.294) from beyond the arc. The Bears ended the game 21-28 (.750) from the free throw line. The Hornets shot .450 from the field with 7-17 (.412) from beyond the arc and 13-22(.591) from the charity stripe.

The Bears head to Pocatello, Idaho to face Idaho State on Feb. 7, 2008 at 7:05 p.m. and then are headed to Ogden, Utah to play Weber State on Feb 9, 2008 at 7:05 p.m.
