March 1, 2008
Northern Colorado's men's tennis team fell below the .500 mark Saturday, March 1, with a 5-2 defeat to the Air Force Academy at Work Out West in Greeley. The Bears fell to 1-2 with the loss. The Falcons won all three doubles matches and four of the singles matches to earn the win. Northern Colorado's Austin Nunn defeated Austin Francis at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 7-5, and Paul Tschetter defeated James Tomlin at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4. The Bears hung tough in doubles, but it wasn't enough. Austin Nunn and Ryan Nunn fell just short, 9-8 (8), at No. 2 doubles, as did the Bears' No. 3 doubles team of Eric Morin and Andrew Buzako, 9-8 (3). "Even though we lost the doubles point, I was excited about how they played," said Scott Langs, Northern Colorado's assistant tennis coach. "The guys played their best doubles today. That carried over to the singles, and I was really pleased with how everyone competed and fought until the end." The Bears will play again Saturday, March 8, at Eastern Washington.
