Final Stats

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team committed 26 turnovers and could not overcome the mistakes, dropping a 60-50 decision to Weber State at Butler-Hancock Thursday evening. The Bears even their season record at 11-11 and move to 5-4 in Big Sky Conference play, while the Wildcats improve to 9-12 on the year and 3-7 in league action.

Junior guard Jamie Schroeder led the team with 20 points and 11 rebounds, connecting on 12-of-13 from the free throw line and was the only player in double figures. Freshman guard Courtney Stoermer had two assists, while freshman guard Kate Kevorken notched two blocked shots.

Weber State was led by senior forward Sara Tuomi with 24 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe, while guard Tonya Schnibbe added 13. Three different players led with five rebounds and Schnibbe also tallied a game-high seven assists and three steals.

"Weber State hurt us with their pressure," said Head Coach Jaime White. "We have to correct that or we're going to be in trouble the rest of the way. We need to keep our composure."

Both teams struggled from beyond the arc, as the Bears were just 1-for-12 (.083) and the Wildcats were 0-for-7 but both hit free throws as NC was 21-for-23 (.913) and WSU was 16-for-18 (.889)

The Bears out-rebounded the Wildcats 38-31 but had the 26 turnovers, while WSU had just 12.

"I though we pushed the ball in transition pretty well," said White. "We also defended the three-point line very well tonight."

Northern Colorado will face Idaho State on Saturday afternoon in a game scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Earlier this season the Bengals defeated the Bears in Pocatello.
