GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado soccer team heads into the final weekend of spring competition and is looking forward to a busy three days. On Friday at 7:00 p.m., the Bears host Colorado, while the annual alumni match is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., the Bears will host a youth clinic for boys and girls grades 1-8.

Thus far, the Bears are 4-2-2 in the spring season, including victories over Denver, 1-0, Colorado College, 2-1 and Air Force, 1-0. Teresa Prais leads the team with four goals during the season used more for instruction.

"The spring season is a great opportunity for players and the team to work on things and improve," said Head Coach Tim Barrera. "I think we have made improvements and are looking forward to a good test against Colorado."

Saturday, the Bears host the annual alumni match to close out the spring season and are excited about competing against former players. Alumni will receive a T-shirt and lunch and are asked to call Barrera for more information at 970.351.1758 or 970.518.3685.

"We are excited to have Jim Kadlecek back in town for the alumni game," Barrera stated. "Jim was in charge of the program for a lot of years and really helped build the foundation with the great teams he had in the early days."

Sunday is the Fiesta Clinic, organized by former student-athlete Marin Shanahan, an ESL teacher in District 6. Last year in the clinic's first event over 100 kids attended and the Bears are hoping for an even bigger attendance this year.

"This is the second year of our clinic and we are excited to be working with so many people in the community to put on this event," added Barrera.

Attendance to both the match against Colorado and the alumni is free to the public.
