Steve Williams joined the Northern Colorado tennis coaching staff in June 2008. He is also the head professional and junior coordinator at Longmont Athletic Club, where he works with several sectionally ranked junior players.

Williams came to the Northern Colorado area about 10 years ago after spending several years teaching and coaching in the Kansas City area. He has worked as a pro at Overland Park Racquet Club, Woodside Racquet Club, and Lake Quivira Country Club. He's also helped coach varsity players at Shawnee Mission West High School, where he himself attended and was the No. 1 varsity singles player from his sophomore through senior years.

Williams later achieved a sectional ranking as a junior player in the Missouri Valley area, and he played college tennis at Johnson County Community College, where he was the No. 3 singles player and national quarterfinalist. Williams also helped JCCC to a fifth-place finish at the national tournament.

Wiliams continues to play open-level tournaments and finished 2007 ranked No. 5 in Colorado at the championship level.

Williams enjoys traveling as often as possible, hiking, and trail running. He has a passion for college sports and will talk University of Kansas basketball with anyone willing to listen.

Williams earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and is certified as an emergency-medical technician.
