Luke Harangody Tabbed As BIG EAST Player of the Week For Third Time This Season

Notre Dame, Ind. - For the third time this season, Luke Harangody Schererville, Ind.) has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week after averaging 32.0 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 58.7 percent from the field. Harangody is the only three-time honoree.

Against Louisville, a 90-85 loss, Harangody eclipsed the 30-point mark for the third time this season as he scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to register his 17th double-double of the season. In the contest, the sophomore forward was 16-28 from the field and 3-4 from three-point range. He also matched his career-high with four shots, blocked two shots and made two steals.

In the win 98-91 win over DePaul on Sunday, Harangody topped the 20-point mark for the 16th time as he finished with 24 points and nine boards, in addition to blocking three shots. Harangody hit 11-18 shots from the field.

Harangody leads the Irish in both scoring (21.1 ppg.) and rebounding (10.5), while his 21.1 average is best in the league in overall games. His 23.6 points and 11.8 rebounds in conference play are best among all players in both categories.

Harangody owns a career-best 26-game double-figure scoring streak and has registered a double-double in all but four conference games. His 590 points to date are the fifth-most scored by an Irish sophomore.

The league other top award honoree was Dominique Jones of USF as he was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.

Named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll were: Jeff Adrien (Connecticut), Roy Hibbert (Georgetown), David Padgett (Louisville), Sam Young (Pittsburgh) and Joe Alexander (West Virginia).
