NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame men's basketball team got an early start on the 2008-09 campaign with its first practice on Mon., Aug. 4. Yes, it's just August, but the Irish are taking advantage of the 10 practices allowed by the NCAA prior to its 13-day trip to Ireland, Aug. 12-25. Notre Dame will be staying in Limerick, Belfast and Dublin during their stay and will play six games in a nine-day span.

None other than senior guard Kyle McAlarney, who will provide a daily diary, will keep Notre Dame fans updated on the team's travels, adventures and games throughout the trip. UND.com also plans to furnish several photo galleries throughout the nearly two-week stay.

The Irish are scheduled to take on national teams from Ireland, Poland and Iceland and an All-Star Team from Ireland in the six-game schedule.
