Aston, PA-The Neumann Knights took on the Eastern Eagles on an Easter Monday double header. Neumann fell both games to their conference opponent game one 3-2 and game two 8-2. In game one, Eastern got on the board early with a base hit by Davis Murray which sent Mike Santello home taking a 1-0 lead. The Knights responded in the second inning when George Whitleigh hit a RBI single tying the game at 1-1. Eastern retook the lead on a Sean Fitzgerald wild pitch. Phil Clark beat Fitzgerald to home plate taking a 2-1 lead. Lincoln-Kaleigh Shrock tied the game right back up on a solo home run over the left field wall making it a 2-2 baseball game. John Montague hit a triple in the top of the seventh inning to give Eastern the lead 3-2 and would hold on to that score in game one, 3-2. Eastern's Kenny Long got the win and Neumann's Jonathan Nodolski was credited with the loss. In game two, Eastern got on the board first on a wild pitch by Raymond Schmoltze. Kenny Long scored for the Eagles on the wild pitch. The Knights would respond shortly after on a Brain Alburger RBI double tying the score at 1-1. A Ryan Doran base hit would give Eastern the lead once again at 2-1 in the top of the second. Eastern would score three runs in the top of fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Ryan Polk hit a 2 RBI single to open things up for the Eagles. The Knights would get one back in the bottom of the sixth but it would not be enough as Eastern would win the game 8-2. Eastern's Paul Sinclair pitched a complete game for the Eagles and Raymond Schmoltze got the loss for the Knights. |
