THIBODAUX, La. - The outfield will provide both defensive stability and offensive power for the Colonels in 2008.

Senior Walter Jones will use his speed and arm strength to play center field for Nicholls and will be depended on at the plate for offensive production.

A.J. DeLaneuville, a sophomore, and Shane Barksdale, a senior, both are both returning starters in the Colonel outfield. Barksdale is the top returning RBI man for Nicholls from 2007.

Anthony Marino also returns for his senior season after a solid junior campaign both in the field and at the plate.

Nicholls welcomes three newcomers to the outfield in JuCo transfers Josh Swenson (Applevalley, Minn./North Iowa Area CC) and Ryan Boudreaux (Marrero, La./Delgado CC) and freshman Corey Arceneaux (Houma, La./Terrebonne).

Swenson and Boudreaux are both left-handed hitters who will be counted on offensively for the Colonels, while Arceneaux is capable of playing all three outfield positions and is in a battle for a starting role after a great fall.
