THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels went back to the grass fields in full pads following their day off as they continued their spring drills with their 12th day of workouts. The practice session went a total of 20 practice periods of five minutes each. The offense worked on inside run and inside run block while also working on short pass scenarios, and the defense worked on 3rd and long situations out of the 3-4 formation along with different blitz packages. Special teams primarily concentrated on kickoff and kickoff return. The Colonels will practice tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in shells (helmets and shoulder pads) before working out again on Saturday at 11 a.m. The annual spring game is set for Thursday April 24 at 7 p.m. in John L. Guidry Stadium. Nicholls athletic department will host Colonel Fest on Saturday April 19 in conjunction with baseball's home contest against in-state rival Northwestern State. The official start time of Colonel Fest is set for Noon with the event lasting till roughly 4:30 p.m. The festival will feature a band and a cooking contest. The cooking contest will have a jambalaya division and a miscellaneous bracket. Anyone wishing to enter a team in the cook off should contact Norby Chabert at 985-493-2516. Tickets for Colonel Fest are $10.00 and the ticket will allow for admission to football practice that day and admittance to the baseball game. All children under 13 get in free. The remaining spring practice schedule is below. All practices are open to the public unless requested otherwise by the football coaching staff.
