THIBODAUX, La. - After a highly competitive scrimmage this past weekend, head coach Jay Thomas announced on Tuesday afternoon that the football coaching staff has decided to cancel Tuesday's practice and Thursday's spring game.

"We just thought that this is the best move for the team both mentally and physically," said Thomas.

"Our scrimmage this past Saturday was highly competitive and we were happy with what we saw. Plus, the injuries we have endured in spring practice so far made continuing on a cause for concern and I believe we have made the right decision."

The Colonels will watch film over the next few days, and focus primarily on academics the rest of the semester while resuming off season strength and conditioning programs next week.
