THIBODAUX, La. - After a 24-period practice yesterday that the Colonels used to install a game plan against the Lions, Nicholls choose to work out today in John L. Guidry Stadium to fine tune their offense, defense and special teams alignments.

"Southeastern is a lot better than what their record indicates with some extremely talented players on both sides of the ball," said head coach Jay Thomas. "When we play them (SELA), it is always a competitive and highly contested game on both sides due to how close we are with each other geographically."

Besides installing a game plan, the Colonels offense took some time to work on their spread packages while the defense worked on 1st and 10 situations. The special teams unit took a few extra reps for kickoff and on-side kick recovery.

The Colonels (6-4, 3-3) have won the last seven games in the series with the Lions dating back to the 1981 contest. Last year, Nicholls went into the locker room at halftime trailing 10-7, but came back in the second half to get the 14-10 win on homecoming night in John L. Guidry Stadium. The Lions (2-8, 1-5) enter the game having lost five consecutive conference games on the season, and have not beaten Nicholls at Strawberry Stadium since 1979.

The regional battle will be televised live by Cox Sports Television. Check your local listings to see if your cable provider will carry the game.
