NICHOLLS MEN'S GOLF SITS IN 11TH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE

ONEONTA, Ala. - The Nicholls men's golf team turned in a 306, which puts it in 11th place after the opening round of the Samford Intercollegiate held at the 6,987 yard par 72 course at Limestone Springs.

Leading the way for the Colonels was junior Marty Reed who sits tied for 21st after turning in a 74 (36-38). Other Colonel golfers included freshman Parham Booker (T34-75), junior James Terrebonne (T53- 78), sophomore Robbie Ocmond (T64-79) and freshman Jacob Lejeune (T67-80).

Eastern Kentucky hold the overall lead after posting a 288, while USC Upstate (289), New Orleans (289), West Florida (292) and tournament host Samford (295) round out the top five. Troy University (296) sits in sixth, while the remaining field of 17 consists of Illinois State (297), Murray State (298), Tennessee-Martin (302), Tennessee State (305), Nicholls (306), Austin Peay (307), Lipscomb (309), Winthrop (311), Tennessee Tech (313), Southern Illinois (316) and Morehead State (323).

Josh Gallman of USC Upstate fired a 3-under par 69 to lead the medalist by one shot over five players who are tied after shooting a 70 during the opening round.

The tournament will resume on Tuesday with 36-holes. The first 18 holes will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, followed by the final 18 holes after a 30-minute lunch break.
