SPRINGFIELD, LA. - The Nicholls men's golf squad fired a first-round 636 (320-316) on Monday at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate held at the 7,049 yard, par 72 Carter Plantation Golf Course in Springfield, La. The Colonels are in 13th heading into Tuesday's final round and stand 13 shots out of a top 10 finish.

Leading the Nicholls charge on Monday's 36-hole first round was sophomore Ebenhaezer Van der Walt. The Kiugersdorp, South Africa, native fired a 156 (77-79) in the opening round and stands in a tie for 23rd. Junior James Terrebonne shot a 161 (84-77) and stands in a tie for 57th heading into the final round on Tuesday. Freshman Jacob Lejeune sits in 62nd place after shooting a first round of 162 (83-79) while junior Marty Reed is in a tie for 63rd after firing a 163 (82-81). Freshman Parham Booker shot a first-round 166 (78-88) to sit in a tie for 76th place to round out scoring for Nicholls.

Middle Tennessee State holds a 15-stroke advantage in the team competition after carding an impressive 10-over par 586 (300-286) after the first round of 36 holes. Marquette's Mike Van Sickle holds the individual lead after the first round, shooting a 1-under 143 (71-72). Sickle leads Middle Tennessee State's Rick Cochran and tournament host Southeastern Louisiana's Cedric Scotto by two strokes.

Tuesday's final round will get underway at 8 a.m. CT teams teeing off on holes one and 10.
