FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore tennis player Eric Fisher was named the Southland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Wednesday afternoon.

Fisher, a native of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, has opened the season on a 6-0 singles streak and a 5-0 doubles streak with partner Phenyo Matong.

"Eric definitely deserves this honor," said head coach Jim Hunter. "He has been playing really well so far."

His biggest win of the season to date came in the form of a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 win over Arkansas-Little Rock's German Perez in No. 2 singles. Fisher is 1-0 at No. 2 and 5-0 at the No. 3 position.

In doubles play, Fisher and Matong have amassed a perfect 5-0 record in the No. 2 slot.

The Colonel men's tennis team will host Florida A&M Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Colonel tennis courts.
