THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonel tennis squad will travel to Nacodoches, Texas, this weekend to compete in the Southland Conference Tournament.

The sixth-seeded Colonels will face No. 3-ranked Texas-San Antonio at 3 p.m. in Friday's first round.

No. 2 Texas-Arlington awaits the winner of the Nicholls/UTSA match in round two.

Nicholls finished the regular season with a 13-7 ledger, including 2-4 in SLC play.

Doubles duos Radu Ionescu/Vlad Popa and Eric Fisher/Phenyo Matong lead the Colonels with 14-3 records. Ionescu/Popa are the No. 1 pair for the Colonels, while Fisher/Matong play No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Fisher holds a 17-3 record and is a perfect 10-0 in the No. 3 slot. No. 2 Popa and No. 4 Matong have compiled 14 wins a-piece on the season.

The tournament, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, is being held at the Schlief Tennis Complex.

Sunday's championship match is slated for 3 p.m.
