THIBODAUX, La. - The Lady Colonel basketball team looks to even its league mark Thursday night as it hosts Northwestern State in a 6:30 p.m., televised game. Nicholls (4-12, 2-3) is riding high after a dramatic 60-55 win Saturday afternoon over Southeastern Louisiana that saw senior guard Katherine Plummer record her second 30-point game of the season. Plummer is averaging a league-leading 17.6 points per game for the Lady Colonels and sits at seventh all-time with 1,088 career points in just 91 games played. Thursday night's contest will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Television from Stopher Gym. Northwestern State (8-11, 1-5) holds a 53-4 series advantage over the Lady Colonels, but Nicholls claimed an 85-76 overtime victory in Stopher Gym in last year's final meeting. The Lady Demons took the first match-up of the 2006-07 season 82-71 in Natchitoches. Head coach Mark Cook's squad is third in the Southland Conference in free-throw percentage, sinking 68.5% of its shots from the charity stripe. Junior post-player Christie Bryant leads the Lady Colonels with 78.8% free-throw shooting. ###### |
