THIBODAUX, La. - After dropping an 80-55 decision at Lamar Thursday night, the Lady Colonel basketball team will return to Stopher Gym Saturday afternoon for its only home game in the month of February, taking on McNeese State at 2 p.m. Saturday's game will be a `Think Pink' game for the Lady Colonels as they will participate in a nationwide initiative of the WBCA. The Southland Conference and its 12 schools are among more than 800 programs across the country to join the program. The WBCA's `Think Pink' initiative is a global effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communitites and beyond. Head coach Mark Cook's squad will wear pink headbands, wristbands and shoelaces to support the effort. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. Nicholls (5-14, 3-5) saw yet another impressive performance from senior guard Katherine Plummer as she poured in 25 points versus the Lady Cardinals, tallying her sixth 20+ point game in the last seven. Plummer is averaging a team-leading 18.2 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per outing for the Lady Colonels. The Cowgirls of McNeese State dropped a 72-58 contest to Southeastern Louisiana Thursday evening to fall to 5-16 (3-4 SLC) on the year. McNeese has two players averaging double digits in scoring - Courtnee' Hollins (15.1) and Brittany Boone (10.2) - and is led on the boards by Reeshimah Davis who has 5.4 rebounds per outing. The Lady Colonels have been impressive from the line of late, shooting above 70.0% in six of the last seven contests. ###### |
