THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels will take part in the Easton Tiger Classic Tournament this weekend in Baton Rouge, La. with their first game in the classic taking place on Friday against Chattanooga at 1:15 p.m. Nicholls (0-3) will play Ball State at 8 p.m. on Friday to close out the day, and will pick up play in tournament on Saturday against in-state rival LSU at 1:15 p.m. and versus St. John's at 6 p.m. Nicholls schedule Sunday will be determined in how they fair over the course of Friday and Saturday, and the Colonels official website, www.geauxcolonels.com, will have all the up to date information. Heading into the tournament, sophomore catcher Nicole Smith leads the team with a 1.000 average at the plate, while senior Kathyrn Harrell follows with a .400 average. The Colonels have three players batting .333 that include senior Amy Thibodeaux, junior Haley Burkett, and sophomore Lacey Gros. Gros got the start on Wednesday night against her former school, and had the 5-3 loss accredited to her. The Schriever, La. native pitched four innings and left the circle trailing 3-2. Chattanooga (2-2) enters the tournament with three players batting .500, and will face off against St. John's at 11 a.m. before battling the Colonels. St. John's, Ball State, and No.9 LSU will be playing their first games of the 2008 season in the tournament. First pitch in Tiger Park for the Colonels' contest against Chattanooga will be at 1:15 p.m. ####### |
