FRISCO, Tex. - Senior Kat Harrell was named SLC Hitter of the Week announced the conference office this afternoon for her outstanding play last week and in the Easton Tiger Classic Tournament over the weekend.

Harrell batted .565 last week on her way to being named to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Colonels to a second place finish in the classic. The League City, Tex. native had six RBIs, six runs, two triples, a double and a stolen base.

The conference released the following earlier today.

Southland Conference Announces Softball Players Of The Week

FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State's Kat Harrell and Texas State's Katie Garnett were named this week's Southland Conference Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, today. It is the first career honor for both players.

Hitter Of The Week:

Kat Harrell, Nicholls State Sr., SS, League City, Texas

Harrell hit .565 last week (13-23), leading the Colonels to the championship game of the Easton Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La. She earned All-Tournament team honors, as she finished the weekend with six RBI, six runs scored, two triples, one double, one stolen base, while also posting a perfect fielding percentage.

So far this season, Harrell is hitting .520.

Pitcher Of The Week:

Katie Garnett, Texas State Jr., P, Llano, Texas

Garnett went 2-1 over the weekend with a 0.83 ERA, highlighted by a perfect game in Texas State's 3-0 win against UMKC where she had three strikeouts. Garnett also was the pitcher of record in the Bobcats' 2-1 win over No. 15 Washington, allowing no earned runs while striking out four and giving up only five hits and a walk. Although taking the loss against No. 4 Arizona State in a 4-0 game, Garnett allowed only one earned run in her seven innings against the Sun Devils.
