Senior Kat Harrell picks up her second SLC player of the week award of the season

FRISCO, Tex. - Senior Kat Harrell was named the SLC hitter of the week for the second time this season announced the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Harrell recorded her 200th career hit against No. 12 LSU last week in front of a standing room only crowd, and became only the third player in Nicholls State softball history to reach the 200 milestone.

The League City, Tex. native currently leads the conference with a .493 batting average entering tomorrow's game at Southern.

Southland Conference Announces Softball Players Of The Week

FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State's Kat Harrell and UT Arlington's Cara Hulme were voted Southland Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week. Harrell wins her second career honor, while Hulme wins the honor for the first time.

Hitter OF The Week:

Kat Harrell, Nicholls State Sr., SS, League City, Texas

Harrell made history for the Colonels this week as she became only the third player in Nicholls' Softball history to record 200 career hits. Harrell recorded her 200th and 201st against No. 12 LSU as she finished the game 2-for-3. The Colonels also faced No. 18 Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday, and even though the Colonels struggled against the Ragin Cajuns, Harrell didn't as she notched her second homerun of the year and finished 1-for-3 with two runs and a RBI ... Harrell also leads the Southland Conference with a .493 average.

Honorable Mention: McKenzie Baack, Texas State, Kim Connelly, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Krista Sitka, UTSA.

Pitcher Of The Week:

Cara Hulme, UT Arlington So., P, Van, Texas

Hulme pitched back-to-back complete game shutouts this weekend to lead UTA in a pair of wins over UTSA. In two games she tallied 25 strikeouts and gave up just two walks and scattered six hits for the weekend. In the second game of the doubleheader against UTSA, Hulme gave up just four hits and one walk in eight inning of work while striking out 15 Roadrunner batters. In the single game on Sunday, she recorded ten strikeouts and gave up only two hits and one walk for the day.

Honorable Mention: Larissa Martin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Janeille Nickels, UTSA and Lacey Gros, Nicholls State.
