SERIES AGAINST MCNEESE STATE MARKS FINAL HOME GAMES FOR SENIORS



Amy Thibodeaux is one of five seniors playing their final home series this weekend

THIBODAUX, La. - This weekend's home series against McNeese State starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at 5 p.m. carries a lot of postseason hopes with it, and it will also be the final home series for five seniors.

Seniors Jessica Barksdale, Krystalin Ensminger, Kat Harrell, Rachel Pugh and Amy Thibodeaux will do battle for the last time this weekend in the Colonel Softball Complex. They all will be honored throughout the course of the weekend.

Saturday's games are slated to start at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with the series capping off on Sunday with a 1 p.m. showdown.

The Colonels (25-25, 12-12) are coming off of being swept by defending Southland Conference Champions Sam Houston State (29-25, 14-10) this last weekend, while McNeese State (19-33, 12-12) took two-of-three from Central Arkansas (5-36, 3-20).

Heading into the series, Harrell is third in the Southland Conference with a .398 batting average while leading the league in hits with 64. The League City, Texas native is also tied for conference tops with five triples.

Thibodeaux still holds the conference high mark of 12 homeruns heading into this series. She is one homerun shy of holding Nicholls' single season record of most homeruns hit in a season while also leading the team in RBIs with 30.

Leading the Colonels in the circle with a 2.61 ERA is sophomore Audrey Wood who also boasts a .233 batting average.

The Cowgirls are led by senior Jenny Clay with a SLC best .401 average at the plate. Clay is also the only player on the squad that is batting over the .300 mark, and leads the team in hits (55), doubles (17) and homeruns (6).
