LAFAYETTE, La. - The Nicholls tennis squads dropped matches at La.-Lafayette Tuesday afternoon. The men fell 4-3, while the Lady Colonels were defeated 6-1.

In the women's match, Lafayette swept the doubles point. Florina Nosca/Natalia Zamora fell 8-0 to Myrthe Molenveld/Bridget Marcovich at No. 1, while teammates Anne-Claire Murier/Sumana Kalyanasundram lost 8-4 at No. 2 to Kim van der Horst/Angelam Dangond. In the No. 3 match, Sanja Stanojcic/Nicole September were defeated 8-3 by Julie Mazinova/Mia Gordon.

Nicholls claimed one singles victory, as Zamora defeated Dangond 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 3 match. At No. 1, Nosca fell 6-2, 7-6 to van der Horst, and in the No. 2 match, Murier dropped a 6-0, 6-3 decision to Molenveld.

In the No. 4 contest, Stanojcic lost 6-2, 6-2 to Marcovich. Kalyanasundram fell 6-3, 6-2 to Marina Ruiz de Gauna at No. 5, and September rounded out the day for the Lady Colonels, dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Gordon at No. 6 singles.

The men had more luck versus the Ragin' Cajuns, as the two teams split the singles matches with three a piece. But ULL captured the doubles point to claim the victory.

Radu Ionescu/Vlad Popa defeated Piotr Olecklowski/Janosz Congradi 8-4 in No. 1 doubles. But Eric Fisher/Phenyo Matong fell 8-6 at No. 2 to Jorge Delgado/Arlen Domoney and Sami Mouline/Alex Gasca-Silav dropped the No. 3 match 8-1 to Piotr Banas/Stefan Hawkins.

In singles action, Ionescu fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to Banas at No. 1, while Fisher claimed a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Olecklowski at No. 2. Vlad Popa won the NO. 3 match 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 over Domoney and Matong took the No. 4 match 4-6, 6-3, 5-0. Mouline fell 6-1, 7-6 to Delgado at No. 5, while Gasca-Silav fell 6-4, 7-6 to Murillo Martins in the No. 6 singles match.

The Lady Colonels return to action on March 1, traveling to San Antonio, Texas for their first conference match of the year, while the men will not play again until March 8 when Texas-San Antonio comes to Thibodaux.
