NASHPORT, Ohio - Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) continues to lead Northern Illinois at the MAC Championships, ending the third round in a tie for fourth with 18 holes to play at the Longaberger Golf Club. As a team, the Huskies are in sixth position entering Sunday's final round. Jecklin, NIU's lone senior, put up a 74 in Saturday's third round, the team's best individual score of the day. Through three rounds, Jecklin is tied for fourth at 218 after a pair of even par 72's on Friday. Northern Illinois' third round scored mirrored its second round tally of 305, giving them a three-round total of 909 for sixth place. The Huskies fought through adverse conditions at the start of the round with heavy rain and wind. "Zach played pretty well after a tough start in horrible weather," said head coach John Cleary. "We played our first three holes in a downpour, but considering the conditions, Zach played well, making birdies and pars and turning in a solid round after that." Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) was one stroke behind Jecklin in Saturday's third round, finishing with a 75 on the day and a cumulative 225, tying for 18th position, up one spot. Also moving up a spot on the leaderboard was Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) who is now in a tie for 27th with a three-round total of 231 (76-78-77). Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) at 42nd and Jeff Dick (Sherman, Texas/Sherman) at 45th round out the Huskie contingent. "Andrew was solid throughout his round and overall our team had a tough start but played well on the middle holes today," said Cleary. "We'll be in good shape for tomorrow and the conditions should be favorable, so hopefully we have a good round left in us." Final round competition begins at 8 a.m. EDT.
