TOLEDO, Ohio-The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered its second straight conference loss, falling to Bowling Green State, 7-0.

NIU's (3-9, 1-3) Nao Umemura (Kasugai-shi Aichi, Japan/Kardina International) and Jenny Edner (Stocksund, Sweden/Kramfors Tennis Gymnasiet) put up tough battles in their matches. Umemura, lost her match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Edner lost the first set, 7-5, but rallied in the second, defeating Smamntha Kintzel, 6-4. However, Edner lost the third set 1-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Umemura and Brooke Forsberg (Moline, Ill./Moline) dropped their match 8-5, while at No. 2 doubles team of Kathryn Friedlund (Parkville, Mo. Park Hill South) and Lilian Asuaje (Monterrey, Mexico/American School Foundation of Monterrey) suffered an 8-4 loss.

The Huskies are off next weekend and will return to the courts April 11 when NIU plays host to Toledo. The action begins at 1 p.m. Central Time.
