DEKALB, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team fell to Toledo, 6-1, at home Saturday afternoon.

"We gave them all they could handle. It was a great day," NIU head coach Ryun Ferrell said. "We're on the right road. I like the way we're going. We had our chances. We just couldn't get over the hump."

Despite the loss, the Huskies (3-11, 1-5) improved on their play from yesterday's match with Eastern Michigan, winning the doubles point thanks in large part to their two seniors who were honored at today's match for all they've done for the Huskie tennis program.

Katie Friedlund (Parkville, Mo. Park Hill) and Lilian Asuaje (Monterrey, Mexico/American School Foundation of Monterrey) posted an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Seniors Dora Delgadillo (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores) and Jenny Edner (Stocksund, Sweden/Kramfors Tennis Gymnasiet) scored an 8-6 victory at No. 3 singles to seal the double point for the Huskies.

The Huskies will be back in action Wednesday, April 16, 2008 when NIU plays host to Chicago State. The match begins at 1:30 p.m. at the West Tennis Courts on the campus of Northern Illinois.
