Stipe Added To NCAA Pentathlon Field

Sophomore Dani Stipe

March 12, 2008

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - University of Northern Iowa sophomore Dani Stipe has been added to the list of competitors who will take part in the women's pentathlon at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships.

Stipe, who was not included on the original list of declared meet entries, has been added based on the strength of her pentathlon score of 3,957 points and boosts the number of UNI athletes selected to compete at the national meet to eight.

Runner-up in the pentathlon at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships two weeks ago, Stipe will make her second national championship meet appearance after also taking part in the NCAA Outdoor Championships as a freshman last season.

Stipe joins freshman teammate Olimpia Nowak in the pentathlon competition, while senior Raven Cepeda and junior Mat Clark each will compete in the men's heptathlon at the NCAA meet.

UNI is the only program in the nation to qualify multiple athletes for both the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon competitions.

Also competing for the Panthers this weekend are senior Rachel Jansen in the women's shot put, junior Tyler Mulder in the men's 800 meters and sophomores Julian Morris and Ehi Oamen in the men's high jump.

The NCAA Indoor Championships begin this Friday, March 14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
