Ron Moore Invitational Day 1 Results Get Acrobat Reader

The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team kicked off its spring season at the Ron Moore Invitational, Friday, at the Palm Valley Golf Club. The Panthers are tied for fourth place after the opening day of competition.

 

Senior Jordan Weber (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) led the Panthers and currently stands tied for ninth place after firing a three-under par 69 in his first round of play. Weber scored a 32 on the front nine and followed up with a 37 on the back nine.

 

Senior Andy White (Keosauqua, Iowa/Van Buren) followed one stroke behind Weber with a score of 70. White shot identical scores of 35 on the front and back nine holes.

 

Sophomore Kyle Bermel (Keota, Iowa/Keota) stands tied for 23rd after opening day with a one-under par score of 71. Bermel carded a 37 on the front nine but countered with a 34 on the back.

 

Junior Eric Sipple (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) is tied for 50th place with a score of 74 and sophomore Troy Hoffman (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) follows close behind, tied for 66th place with a score of 76 to round things out for the Panthers 

 

In their first competition of 2008, the Panthers stand tied for fourth, along with Iowa State University and the University of Denver, with a team score of 284. The University of San Diego currently stands in first place with a score of 277. Canadian Development follows close behind in second place, recording a score of 279 and Kansas State University is in third place with a 280.

 

The three-day tournament continues Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
