Branson Creek Results Day 1

The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team is in ninth place with a score of 300 after the opening day of competition Monday at the Branson Creek Invitational in Hollister, Mo.

 

Senior Andy White (Keosauqua, Iowa/Van Buren) led the Panthers in the first round of play with a ninth-place tie after posting a one-over-par 72.

 

Senior Jordan Weber (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) follows close behind White with a 15th-place tie and a first-round score of 73. Weber fired a 37 on the front nine and countered with a 36 on the back nine.

 

Sophomore Kyle Bermel (Keota, Iowa/Keota) stands tied for 48th place, firing a 77 on the day. Senior Brook Maher (Monroe, Iowa/Prairie City-Monroe) tagged close behind in 56th place, executing a 78. Junior Blake Hibben (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Northern University) is in 69th place, carding an 84 in the first round.

 

UNI stands in ninth place after the first round of competition with a score of 300. Illinois State University stands in first place, registering a 285.

 

The Panthers only completed one round for the day as the second round was cancelled due to heavy thunderstorms in the area. The tournament is reduced to 36 holes with the final 18 scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
