ASU Indian Classic Day 1 Results

The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team stands tied for 11th place following the opening day of play at the ASU Indian Classic, hosted by Arkansas State University. The Panthers posted a two-round score of 570 (289-281).

 

New Orleans leads the ranks with a 24-under-par score of 552. Four individual players stand tied for first place after registering a 9-under-par score of 135; Austin Peay's Grant Leaver and Luke Sherrod, Southern Florida's Tyler Hitchcock, and Arkansas State University's Tyler Thompson.

 

Jordan Weber (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) led the Panthers with a 6th-place finish after two rounds and a solid score of 137, seven strokes under par. Weber fired a tournament-low 66 in the first round.

 

Senior Andy White (Keosauqua, Iowa/Van Buren) stands tied for 50th place, after firing an even-par score of 144, and posting identical first and second round scores of 72.

 

The pair of Kyle Bermel (Keota, Iowa/Keota) and Eric Sipple (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) tagged close behind, tying for 56th place with matching scores of 145. Bermel carded a 78 in the first round but countered with a low 67 in the second. Sipple registered an opening round 74 and a low round 71 in the second.

 

Sophomore Andy Wass (Ames, Iowa/Ames) is tied for 90th place with a score of 152, after posting a low round 75.

 

The ASU Indian Classic concludes Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m.
