            ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- University of Northern Iowa freshman forward Lizzie Boeck was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

            Boeck averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Panthers on the week. Boeck shot 54.5 percent from the floor in UNI's games against Creighton and Drake. On Thursday, she scored 10 points and collected two rebounds against Creighton. Against Drake, the freshman scored a career-high 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds, all on the offensive end, and collected two blocked shots in that game. The Milwaukee, Wis., native is averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds this season.

            This is the second time this season a Panther has been named MVC Newcomer of the Week. Jacqui Kalin earned the honor on Dec. 3.
