Saluki Invitational Results Day 1
The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team is tied for fifth place after the opening day of competition Sunday at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.
Sophomore Molly Schemm (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) led the Panthers after the first round of play with a fifth-place tie. Schemm shot an opening round score of 73. She posted a 37 on the front nine and a score of 36 on the back nine.
Freshman Shanon Davis (Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) stands tied for 16th place with a score of 76 after the first 18 holes of the day.
Sophomore Ann Arnason (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) is currently tied for 24th after firing a 78. Junior Heather Frye (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) stands tied for 39th, carding an 80 that included a 38 on the back nine.
Junior Kim Weber (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) and redshirt freshman Sabrina Danielson (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Southeast Polk) are tied for 44th place after firing identical scores of 81 in the first round.
Brittany Bomar (Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service) stands tied for 50th with a score of 82 to round things out for the Panthers.
As a team, UNI stands tied for fifth place with Drake University after posting an overall score of 307. Bradley University currently stands in first place with a 299.
The tournament concludes Monday.
