Box Score

HAYWARD, Calif. - The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell 2-0 to California in its final game at the National Invitational Softball Tournament Sunday.

The Golden Bears struck early, scoring the games only runs in the first inning. The Bears plated their first run on a double steal by Erika Racklin, and a play later Gina Leomiti scored off a wild pitch.

That would be the only runs of the day for either team, as both teams struggled to push runners across the plate. UNI marooned nine runners, while Cal left five stranded.

Neither team could connect at the plate either, as UNI registered just five hits and Cal earned four.

Jen Larsen (Moline, Ill./Moline) was tagged for the loss today, tossing her fourth complete game of the season.

UNI will open Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend when they travel to Southern Illinois Saturday, March 15.
