Box Score

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- Despite the cold temperatures the University of Northern Iowa was hot at the plate, connecting for eight hits in its 7-0 win over Missouri State Sunday. The Panthers were only able to play one of the scheduled three games for this weekend due to the weather.

The Panthers put their first runs on the board in the bottom of the third off a RBI single by Stephanie Aguero (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine). Morgan Paulson (Fort Dodge, Iowa/ Fort Dodge) pushed the second run across off an RBI single of her own.

After three quick outs for the Bears, Kelly Papesh (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) drilled a double to right center. Ashley Lepley (Albia, Iowa/Albia) then uncorked a two-run home run to left field, putting the Panthers up 4-0.

UNI plated three runs off three hits in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win for the Panthers.

Jen Larsen (Moline, Ill./Moline) earned the win for the Panthers, allowing just three hits in seven innings of work. Missouri State's Melissa Porche took the loss despite striking out eight batters.

Papesh finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate, while Aguero finished 2-for-4 along with two RBIs.

UNI (16-20, 3-9 MVC) returns to action Thursday as they face Bradley for a single-game Thursday at 4 p.m. at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex in Cedar Falls.
