Final Stats

Milwaukee, Wis. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team rolled past Wisconsin-Milwaukee 6-1 to remain a perfect 3-0 on the season.

 

The UNI Panthers won two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point over the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. The UNI duo of sophomore Sampada Kanade and junior Taynara Moraes rolled past Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz 8-1. The tandem of senior Carolina Hannes and freshman Laia Gonzalez-Garrido beat Martina Schnapp and Jenna Felsher 8-5 to secure the doubles point. Senior Meghana Paritala and freshman Ashton Schwerin were unable to complete the Panther sweep in doubles play falling to Sammi Schoen and Ashley Schoneman 8-4.


 

 

 

UNI continued its dominance in singles play this season winning five of the six singles contests on the night. The Panthers are 15-3 on the season in dual meet singles competition. Paritala topped Drvaric in No. 1 singles play 6-2, 6-2, while Kanade continued her solid play and remains unbeaten in dual meet competition beating Schnapp 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Diana Mendez improved to 10-4 in singles play on the season beating Schoen (3-6), 6-1, 10-5 in No. 4 singles. Hannes beat Schoneman in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3, and Gonzalez-Garrido rounded out the UNI singles victories winning 6-1, 6-1 over Kari Kastenholz. Schwerin was the lone UNI Panther to fall in singles play, losing 6-1, 6-3 to Felsher.

 

"This was a good win for us, and hopefully we keep this going the rest of the weekend, head coach Sachin Kirtane said.

 

The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
