Final Stats

Green Bay, Wis. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team cruised past Wisconsin-Green Bay 7-0 to improve to 4-0 on the season.

 

"This was another solid road win for us today," head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "Hopefully this will give us confidence for tomorrow when we face a tough Marquette team."

 

The Panthers continued their dominance on the court this spring by not dropping a set all day in singles or doubles play. UNI is 21-3 in dual meet singles matches this spring and 10-3 in doubles play.

 


 

 

Sophomore Sampada Kanade and senior Carolina Hannes took care of business in No. 1 doubles edging out Wisconsin Green-Bay's Emily Lawent and Lauryn Grimando 9-7. Senior Meghana Paritala and freshman Ashton Schwerin rolled past Kelly Stadum and Laura Bartingale 8-3, while the freshman tandem of Diana Mendez and Laia Gonzalez-Garrido topped Kari Petrashek and Callee Conda, 8-1.  

 

In singles competition, Paritala defeated Lawent 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot, while Kanade rolled past Stadum 6-4, 6-0. Gonzalez-Garrido topped Grimando 6-3, 6-1, and Mendez held off Bartingale 6-4, 6-4. Hannes picked up her 74th career victory as a Panther over Conda 6-2, 6-2, and Schwerin completed the Panther sweep beating Petrashek 6-4, 6-0.

 

The Panthers will finish their three game road trip tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Marquette.
