Final Stats
Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska (11-0) continued its dominance on the tennis courts this spring and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the UNI women's tennis team on Sunday morning. The Panthers fall to 7-3 on the season and are the 10th team the Huskers have swept this year. Due to severe weather forecasted to be moving into the region Sunday evening, the format of the match was changed, resulting in the shortened match.
Both teams agreed to play singles first instead of the normal format of doubles followed by singles. If a team reached four points in singles play then the match would be called because a winner had been determined.
The Panthers lost the first four singles matches resulting in the final two singles matches to not be finished. UNI senior Meghana Paritala fell in No.1 singles play against Imke Reimers 6-0, 6-2, and Panther freshman Laia Gonzalez-Garrido lost to Jana Albers 6-0, 6-1. The Huskers' Amber Chandronnait rolled past Ashton Schwerin 6-0, 6-1, and Abby Buxton completed the Husker sweep beating Samantha Schnobel 6-2, 6-2.
The Panthers will not return to action until March 16 at Jacksonville State.
