Final Stats

Charleston, SC - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis fell 7-0 today against the College of Charleston, marking just the second time this season the Panthers have been swept. College of Charleston is now 15-2 on the season, including a 10-1 home record. UNI finishes its non-conference slate with an 8-5 mark and will start league play on March 30 at Drake.

 

The Cougars continued its dominance on the courts this spring as they did not drop a set against the Panthers. Link Leskowsky rolled in No. 1 singles over Meghana Paritala, 6-4, 6-1, and Laura Borza topped Sampada Kanade, 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 2 match.

 


 

 

UNI senior Carolina Hannes was denied her 80th career victory by Keely Mulligan, 6-2, 6-0, and Diana Mendez fell to Amanda Becker in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Becker is 15-2 on the season and is the team leader for wins.

 

In No. 3 singles, Holly Dowse held off Laia Gonzalez-Garrido in a tough first set 7-5, but then cruised to a 6-0 victory in the second set to win the match. Anna Lee Evans completed the Cougar sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Taynara Moraes.

 

The Cougars are 76-26 in dual meet singles matches this season, and have been just as dominant in doubles play winning 78 percent of its matches.

 

Borza and Leskosky cruised in No. 1 doubles over Ashton Schwerin and Taynara Moraes, 8-1, and Chelsea Albertz and Evans beat Hannes and Kanade in No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Julia Howard and Mulligan teamed to top Gonzalez-Garrido and Paritala, 8-4.
