Final Stats

Waterloo, Iowa - For the sixth straight year the University of Northern Iowa women's tennis came up on the short-end against Indiana State. The Sycamores swept the Panthers, 7-0 today in the Panthers' final home match of the season at the Black Hawk Tennis Club. Indiana State improves to 4-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play and 6-6 overall, while the Panthers fall to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in league play.

The Sycamores started the day by winning all three doubles matches and earning the doubles team point, led by the tandem of Jennifer Migan and Joanne Schickerling in No. 1 doubles. The duo rolled past Meghana Paritala and Taynara Moraes, 8-1.

In singles play, Paritala was denied her chance at moving into a tie for first on the Panthers' all-time wins list, falling in a three-set match against Sarah Meghoufel in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

UNI senior Carolina Hannes was unable to move up on the career wins list charts after dropping a tightly contested match in No. 6 singles against Marie Caujolle, 9-8 and losing the super tie-break, 8-6.

"Indiana State is a really good team and they showed today why they are one of the best teams in our conference," head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "We played a lot better in the singles part of the match, but we were unable to pick up the critical points to win some matches."

The Panthers will hit the road now for their four final league matches of the season. The Panthers will start its road trip on Saturday (April 12) at Southern Illinois.
