ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico women's tennis senior Lucy Scott earned her first Mountain West Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Scott, a native of Wrexham, Wales, helped boost the Lobos to a 2-1 weekend with two wins in singles and a big upset in doubles. Against Utah's Erin Monson, Scott won the first set 7-6 with a tiebreaker and finished off with a 6-4 second set, keeping Utah from winning the match and giving New Mexico its first point.

In the match against BYU, Scott battled Chie Hayasaka at the No. 3 spot. The two had a long first set with Scott coming out ahead and then she won the match 7-5, 6-1 with a quick second set. Her victory tied the dual at 2 all giving the Lobos a chance to finish off their second straight comeback win. Scott has an 18-16 record in singles.

In doubles, Scott and Ola Abou-Zekry teamed up for an upset against the TCU's No. 12 ranked doubles team of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska at the No. 1 spot. The Lobos duo never trailed in the match winning 9-7 with a 7-2 tiebreaker. She improved to 18-15 in doubles.

Scott has a 78-61 (.560) career singles mark, which puts her in ninth place and only two away from eighth in the history books. In doubles, Scott has an 80-53 (.600) career record, which moves her into a tie for eighth place. Her combined career 158 wins are good for eighth as well.
